This week has been one of those unexpectedly busy weeks for Skylanders news. So here's a quick recap of this week's posts just in case you missed some:
- This Saturday (Jan. 11th) is Skylanders Day at GameStop
- This week all of Wave 3 was released at TRU stores across America
- We discovered the source of Crystal Whirlwind and Red Camo
- We discovered a new Best Buy Exclusive variant (available Jan. 12th)
Oftentimes if you have a question about something, you're probably not the only one.
Here at SCL I get dozens of emails each week with questions from readers like you. Even though only a few dozen take the time to write in, I am guessing that many more of you have the same questions.
So here in the SCL Q&A I hope to answer some of these questions in a more public forum so that all of you may benefit. I hope to make this a weekly post, but that all depends on you. Please keep sending me any Skylanders questions you may have. I will still reply to all of your emails, but I will also post some of the answers here.
Target listed 1/31/14 as the release date for all of Wave 3. Is this the real release date?
No. This is what we call a placeholder date. Target wanted to get the items listed on their website early. Since the products were not yet available they needed to list a release date. They knew they would be released sometime in January, but they didn't have an exact date so they chose January 31st just to be safe.
This is a common practice with toys and video games.
When will the rest of Wave 3 come out?
If you live near a Toys R Us, it's time to go shopping. On Tuesday of this past week the full line of Wave 3 Skylanders were released at Toys R Us.
We have not yet seen figures at other stores, but with Skylanders Day at GameStop on the 11th and a new variant releasing at Best Buy on the 12th, it looks like other stores are getting ready to showcase Wave 3 very soon.
If I started playing Skylanders on the Wii but upgrade to a PS4, will all my figures still work?
Yes. Skylanders figures are NOT console-specific. However, keep in mind that you will need to get a new Portal and Game Disc to keep play Skylanders on a new console, but you will still be able to use all the figures you have accumulated.
If I buy Skylanders figures from Europe, will I be able to use them in America?
Yes. Skylanders figures are NOT region-specific. You can buy figures from anywhere in the world and use them anywhere in the world (as long as they are compatible with the game you are playing).
When will Scratch/Freeze Blade/Doom Stone be released?
These figures were not a part of the most recent release (Wave 3). This means that they will either be in Wave 4 or Wave 5.
We do not have any information regarding these Waves at this time. Stay tuned to SCL or follow us on Facebook for all the latest information.
Additionally, if you're unsure whether or not a certain figure has already been released, I would like to direct your attention to the Release Dates section of SCL. (There is a link to this page in the main menu at the top of every page.)
This page separates the figures into their Waves (with release dates) and even gives you a complete list of unreleased figures.
That's all for this week. If you have any questions, you can contact me here.
