Wave 4 has finally made it to the US. We now have new Swappers and Core characters.

As of this post, the Wave 4 Care Skylanders have only been found at Walmart and the Wave 4 Swappers are only at Toys R Us. I'm sure over the next week or two we'll start to see Wave 4 at other stores as well.

Oftentimes if you have a question about something, you're probably not the only one.

Here at SCL I get dozens of emails each week with questions from readers like you. Even though only a few dozen take the time to write in, I am guessing that many more of you have the same questions.

So here in the SCL Q&A I hope to answer some of these questions in a more public forum so that all of you may benefit. I hope to make this a weekly post, but that all depends on you. Please keep sending me any Skylanders questions you may have. I will still reply to all of your emails, but I will also post some of the answers here.

SCL Q&A

What is the difference between the LightCore version and regular version of Skylanders?

This is a very common question for those new to the Skylanders franchise. Aside from sporting a different pose, there are a few differences. I'll try to break it down for you:

On the Portal…

…the LightCore figure will “magically” light up.
…the regular figure does nothing.

In the game…

…the LightCore figure will provide you with a one-time “flash bomb” attack that damages all the enemies on the screen.
…the regular figure does nothing.

Attacks…

The LightCore figure has the same basic attacks, but cannot switch paths.
The regular figure can switch paths and has a Wow Pow ability (if it is a Series 2 or 3 figure).

Price…

The LightCore figure retails for $12.99.
The regular figure retails for $9.99.

Will the SSA Adventure Packs work in SWAP Force?

Technically, yes, but probably not in the way you were hoping.

In Spyro's Adventure and Giants, the Adventure Packs unlock a new level for you to play.

When placed on the Portal in SWAP Force, they simply provide you with a one-time attack that damages all enemies on the screen. The “bonus” levels are not available in SWAP Force.

Do the Skylanders Giants Battle Packs work in SWAP Force?

Very similar answer to the question above…

In Giants, the Battle Packs will unlock a new Battle Arena.

When placed on the Portal in SWAP Force, they simply provide you with a one-time attack that damages all enemies on the screen.

Why is Series 2 Bash so expensive?

Supply and demand.

Series 2 Bash was originally released in Wave 2 of the Skylanders Giants release.

Typically the figures that are released in Waves 1 and 2 will see a sort of secondary release during Wave 4 and 5. Sometimes this is just more Single Packs and sometimes this comes in the form of a Triple Pack, but somehow the stock gets replenished.

Unfortunately we did not see this happen with Series 2 Bash. While he was planned to be in the final Triple Pack (#9), I never saw this pack released in the US. I heard it had a limited release in some other countries, but it is still quite rare.

So, if you missed out on Bash during Wave 2, you'll probably have to pay prices like these to add him to your collection.
