Ever since Skylanders Giants (the second game), Skylanders Figure Compatibility has been a big issue.
The good news is, they have made Skylanders extremely compatible. The bad news is, this topic still confuses a lot of people.
Skylanders figures are not console-specific.
This means that the figures you got in your Xbox 360 Starter Pack, can be used on the PS4 (or any other console). The console or platform you are playing on is not a limiting factor.
Skylanders figures are not region-specific.
Around the world, many of you have to worry about region specific DVDs and video games. However, this only applies to disc-based media and therefore does not include Skylanders figures themselves.
This means that you can purchase a Skylander from the US and use it in a game you bought in Australia (or any other country). The region you purchase your Skylanders figures from is not a limiting factor.
This is the only limiting factor you have to worry about.
Over the years Activision has put out charts trying to explain Figure Compatibility. The simple fact of the matter is though that Figure Compatibility can no longer be explained through a simple chart.
With that being said, do not despair. There is just one simple rule you have to learn to solve the mystery of Figure Compatibility. You just have to answer one simple question and you will be able to figure it all out on your own.[box]In which game did _________ have his Series 1 figure?[/box]
